The Comfort Zone
Isn't it funny how we get in a comfort zone and won't leave? Most people seek the ultimate job they can retire with, the house they will live in until they die, a pair of shoes that they will wear for eternity, the car they will drive until "the wheels fall off", the same pew in church, front row at the kids' ballgames, the same friends every friday night bowling. We're happy there. Its a life. Its the comfort zone. How difficult is it to be so adventurous and journey to the unknown leaving all that behind? To be uncomfortable?
I'll let you know.
Remember: from Ulysses, "TO STRIVE TO SEEK TO FIND...BUT NOT TO YIELD!"

The Trail
She walked along the trail. The leaves were shimmering in the sunlight for it had just rained earlier that morning. She had walked this trail a hundred times and yet each time she saw something new. This morning would be no different.
As she neared the top, she stopped for water. She set her backpack down and leaned against a large tree that had fallen. Knowing she should continue as she was so close to her destination, her lungs begged for more air. Suddenly, a man came up the trail behind her. Her first thought was to return to the bottom and as she got up to do just that, he said, "Hello!" He smiled the perfect smile. She couldn't speak. He was so handsome. He held out his hand to her and she took it. He did not shake it as she expected but raised it and kissed it with his perfect lips. He was extremely tall and his eyes danced a million dances. The breath she had regained was quickly lost once again.
He knew this. She was beautiful, he thought, as she gracefully moved a lock of hair out of her face. Her eyes were fixed on his. It was magnetic to him. Unable to resist, he stepped forward and placed one hand on her slightly damp face. He knew she was about retreat so without pause, he leaned forward. In one swift movement he placed his other arm around her shoulders and pulled her close to him as he kissed her deeply. She returned his kiss and wrapped her arms desperately around him. Clinging to his shoulders, she felt herself sink into his long arms. It was the perfect kiss...
The loud thunder startled her. She had fallen asleep and it was raining once again. Disappointed that she would be denied the magnificant view from the top and that the kiss was only a dream, she stood and burshed herself off. Thinking to herself, she would try again tomorrow. She picked up her backpack and began her journey down the trail.
Suddenly a deep familiar voice from behind her..."Hey! Wait up!"...
She stopped and didn't even need to turn around.

BUGS!!!!!
I really hate bugs. I understand that they are a part of the "Food Chain" but seriously...I have issues with them. Even the "good bugs". Creepy crawly nasty bugs just make me ill. I have tried to get past this obsession, but I can't! Don't EVEN get me started on the commercials on TV that have the roaches going across the screen -- or the advertisements using flash on the internet. AICK!!!!!! Oh well, I guess I'll try again tomorrow.
Goodnight you!

My Passionate Love Affair....
..with my diet coke refil. Every morning, I go over to this little shop where I get a $.64 refil on my diet coke in a 32oz mug. Its a beautiful thing. I go I wash my cup, I wash the lid, I walk over to the other high rise and get a refil. They have this AWESOME pellet ice that I crunch on all day long. Today, I was unable to go...and I'm disappointed. I think I am in love with diet coke.
Remember: Only love that which can potentially love you back.
From this day forward I will only like you Diet Coke.

9 Lives - 1= 8 Lives
Its lunchtime and me and my friends are walking downtown to get the best salad in town....I am carrying an umbrella because its drizzling out. The road is four lanes, so se waited for the crosswalk to give the ok and then started walk across the street. I am looking down the opposite way to make sure no one was coming and all of the sudden golfer barbie says in a very calm voice "Car"...I hear a screeching of the tires. When I look to my left a car was turning and wasn't stopping for me or my friends. She somehow jerked her Explorer over into the other lane while I preceeded to scream a blood curling scream. It was very scary. I was asked did my life flash before my eyes, I have to say no...but I do feel like I just gave up one of my 9. I'm grateful to God that he let me live another day.
Remember: Drive carefully and watch for pedestrians...I'll work on this too.
And for the record...NO! She didn't stop.
Here is a Sonnet from one of my favorite English Writers, John Donne
Death, be not proud (Holy Sonnet 10)
Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou are not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.
Thou'art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy'or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.

If You Won the Lottery....
What is the first thing you would buy?
I've been thinking about this today. We have a person in my office who takes up our $2 for the powerball every week. I'm paid up through April...but today was collection day. It just made me think...if we actually won what would be the first thing I would buy (aside from giving money away to friends, family and charity)?
Many things went through my head...
A getaway vacation
My husband a new car
Clothes from my In Style magazine
Stocks
A new house (or at least a pool in this one)
Diamond Earrings
Art from a well known artist
But what of those make people happy? I've known many people with lots of money, things and that travel all the time. Granted, it is nice - it helps. Especailly if you have wants beyond your means, but honestly for happiness its not necessary. The happiest people I know come home to happy homes. The happiest people I know have lots of friends and family who love them. Its funny how that isn't on a scratch off ticket anywhere.
Remember: When parking up hill turn your wheels toward the centerline of the road. Why? If the vehicle would slip out of gear the car would roll backward and stop againt the curb. If there is no curb turn the wheels toward the side of the road.
