Vitamin Water = the devil

Grumble Grumble.

My favorite drink of late -- XXX acai-blueberry-pomegranate has just been labeled "Worst Healthy Drink" by the Eat This Not That Guy.

I LOVE THIS STUFF.

Then again, I'm always irritable on a no caffiene day. Today is one of those days. In case you're wondering -- I'm trying to quit caffiene. Its miserable. I'm doing a day off and and a day on...eventually I'll get to two days between but so far that hasn't worked out yet. :)

More on the bad evil water is here:

Guess What today is???

Its TWILIGHT Tuesday!

This article is about our favorite big brother vampire - Emmett.

In other movie news, I can't find The Dutchess playing anywhere. I am thinking it was under a limited release? Kiera Knightly + Ralph Fiennes = Happy Ally. And I have a degree in math!

This day in history...

This time last year, I was in a LOT of pain. I had fallen down my stairs. I broke my leg, ankle and dislocated my knee. I tore a very important membrane which holds your ankle on your foot. It was not a happy day.

A year later, I cannot jump to save my life. Today I tried to jump rope -- it was embarrassing. I can exercise on my crosstrainer and ride my bike. I am not too great with P90x or just aerobics in general. Running is OUT of the question and I haven't played tennis. I don't recommend falling down the stairs.

Want an extra $10 and free Showtime?

If you are DirecTV customer call them and tell them you're thinking of switching to cable. I did that just tonight and got 3 months of Showtime / TMC for free and $10 off of my bill for 6 months.

The rep asked if there was anything else I needed...I replied no, not for another 6 months! :)

Its TWILIGHT Tuesday! Woot!

Sunday Night Anxiety

You wake up -- without an alarm....

Streeeeeeeetch....

*Gently open eyes*

Ahhh I have no where to be today...

Its SUNDAY....

OH NO! ITS SUNDAY!

UGH I Have to work tomorrow...I have a meeting at 8:30 - I scheduled my dr appointment on the same day, crapsticks I have to do a client presentation at 3 - what am I going to wear - its it going to be cold - hot? - the crew said they wanted to go out after work tomorrow to celebrate - what about childcare - etc etc

Is this you? Do you spend all day Sunday (once you realize it is Sunday) dreading Monday rather than appreciating the day off for what it is? I think its a disease. The only thing that I have found that helps cure this is 1) Be prepared on Friday for Monday. When you leave work on Friday - tie up all loose ends if you can or 2) Call in sick -- but then Tuesday is going to be NASTY Bad or 3) Work part time and go in on Wednesdays. Oh how I love working part time. THANK YOU LOVEY FOR LETTING ME WORK PART TIME.

I'm still blogging. Impressed? I've posted 3 times this month. There is hope yet.

Technology QotW:

It's possible that airlines may soon allow cell phone use during flight. Are you for or against in-flight cell phone use?

The problem with this rule is that you can't prevent the entire plane from talking on their phones the entire flight. No one would listen to safety instructions (have you tried to listen lately?). No one would be able to hear anything. Imagine 100s of people strapped into a small closet type setting all talking at once on their cellphones...Thank goodness noise cancelling headphones came out first.

Featured Question: Perks of the Job

In this economic climate, not all employers are able to give raises. What perks would make you happy in lieu of a raise?
Sponsored by Microsoft Small Business.

Time off with pay. I love days off!!! If you're someone who gets the job done, you'll still get the job done but you'll be paid for a day to do what you WANT to do.

Its also unfortunate that when times are hard - companies tend to cut back, layoffs, and in extreme cases shut down but when times are booming -- raises and bonuses are still hard to come by.

I wish I could discover what I really WANT to do. I want a job that I LOVE going to because I'm working on something I WANT to be working on. At my job, I LOVE the people...even the clients I interact with are awesome! I just am dissatisfied with the content. Its like a movie with beautiful costumes, makeup, music and no plot.

AMR (Ally's Movie Review) - The Women

First off, I would like to introduce you all to my new column for my blog - AMR or Ally's Movie Review. My reviews will be full of grammatical mistakes, personal opinion, non-objective nonsense and maybe praise for a movie you would consider ridiculously horrible. That being said, you have been warned. But in that same regard, I rarely have the opportunity to actually see movies so lucky for you - you won't have to read too many of these.

Every good movie review has a rating system. Here is mine.

***** Hello? Stand in line for hours...to see it the 10th time

**** Movie popcorn, surround sound here we come

*** Remote control purchase - tivo it so you can watch it a 2nd time

** If its free you might tolerate it...have alternate plan ready

* WTH? I need those precious minutes out of my life back

My first review: The Women

http://thewomenthemovie.com/index.html

OK there are NO men in this movie -- so if you're looking for eye candy, go see the Dark Knight and check out Christian Bale. Even without the Y chromosome, the cast is quite "popular" - Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Candice Bergen, Bette Midler, Eva Mendes, and Carrie Fisher (HELLO Princess Leia!). I really loved Annette Bening and her flaws. A good flawed character with awesome shoes and nice fingernails makes potential for a HIT of a movie. Meg Ryan - wow do I miss her short pixie hair. I guess the long blonde hair is very fashionable, but I LOVE HER SHORT HAIR! Anyway, they are the core best friend team and the others are the wing-me err wing women. I think Candice Bergen STOLE the show acting as Mary's (Meg Ryan) supportive - lovable mother. As you can imagine, a flick with all women, about women, for women alongside a man who cheats - is the perfect recipe for the *cue horror music* "slaughter of the male". So much so, that I felt sorry for the one male in our audience tonight. Girls don't torture the one true love of your life and make them see this!!!!

OK so we have a group of girls and a man who cheats and (don't forget) the hot sexy nasty viscious mistress (Eva). Yep. That's it. Oh there are some cute humorous lines, a stellar cast (even smoking marijuana no less!), and some really great handbags and leather skirts. Bottom line: this movie lacked substance for me in more ways than one. I could watch this on Oxygen one weekend during nappy time about a year from now and have been just as content.

My final take: Two and a half stars - Wait for it to show up on your Tivo - a year from now

Brick Walls

Lately it feels like I have hit a brick wall -- in a couple of areas of my life. One is obvious -- I'm not feeling creative and haven't been writing - anything! I'm not sure why -- I'm just frustrated and dissatisfied for a number of reasons.

Its funny that I feel this way. Today, a friend of mine at work came over to my desk and was telling me about Randy Pausch's Last Lecture. I'm always DAYS behind the times -- I'm sure you have heard of this. But in the event you haven't and you have a minute errr an hour, check this out on You Tube. Very inspirational

Twilight Tuesday...my confessional

I admit it...I'm an official "Twilighter". Here is my story on how I came to be: I had been on Facebook for a while, and my sister and Co started sending me "Flair"...I love FLAIR too by the way - except that you can't ever just get rid of a flair - that is another rant for another day. Anyway, so I asked my sister who knows all because she reads Entertainment Weekly - what is this "Team Edward crap" on Flair. She said something to the effect it was teenage vampire books - Twilight. I have been known to check out the "Young Adult" section of the local library - Sarah Dressen being my favorite author - and been completely made fun of for doing so. Anyway, I had not heard of Twilight, but checked out the Wikipedia on it. Dark, romantic angsty love story? Sign me up! So, on a Monday I drive over to Barnes and Noble to try and find the first book. I searched the store and had to finally break down and ask where the books were. Nice manager-looking guy took me straight to a table where I feasted on the entire saga. I just bought the first one -- since I wasn't COMPLETELY sold on the fact that this was a horror/vampire type book. Think - Something Borrowed (Emily Giffin) as one of my favorite casual read books - I'm still a little skeptical going in.

Chapter 2 - I am HOOKED. I read it in a day. At which point I told my sister "You have got to read this." She read it the next day.

I had to wait a few days to pick up New Moon. I had a few really important presentations to do at work that week and simply could not spend all night reading and expect myself to function during the day. Not to mention I have a 22 month old to take care of!

I read New Moon on a Thursday. I have to say it wasn't my favorite and then on Friday, I picked up Eclipse AND Breaking Dawn at the same time - not before the guy at Barnes and Noble asked me if I was doing this for a reading assignment HAHAHAHAHA! My sister was RIGHT BEHIND ME reading the books. As a matter of fact, on Saturday Night I started Breaking Dawn but not before I met her halfway between our houses to take her Eclipse.

While I'm reading all this I discover that there is going to be a movie based on the first book. Yipeeee! More fuel for my newfound obsession! So I go and buy Hollywood Stock (www.hsx.com) on the lead actors and the movie. I am glad that I did that -- my stocks are SOARING! I am SO FREAKING PUMPED about the movie which comes out 11.21.2008. So what to do now that I've powered through the books? Well I am re-reading them a little slower this time. I'm on the 3rd one - Eclipse. They are even better the 2nd time around!

And for the record, Robert "Rob" Pattinson will make a GREAT Edward. I don't think he is "exactly" what I pictured when I read the books but I'm completely on board. I am honestly REALLY looking forward to the soundtrack -- it sounds like its going to be FABULOUS!

Twilight Tuesdays are on MTV. Check it out here: http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1594404/20080909/story.jhtml

If you google "Twilight", you will find a ton of websites etc. Its INSANE!
