How DELL ruined my day...

Before the laughter ensues....Before the "You are stupid" comments begin hurling in my direction...Please note that I have a job, a husband and a 2 year old. I do not have time to "build a system".

Hence me going to Dell.com to buy a computer. When I worked for the government, we first started buying HP computers which QUICKLY turned out to be a bad idea. Granted, this was back in the early to mid 90's. We switched to Dell and were insanely pleased. We rarely had problems but when we did, they were easily handled by our CSR. That being said, when I would buy computers for myself I would turn to dell because I was so pleased. As a matter of fact, the computer I am typing this on is a DELL and was purchased in 2001. I have updated it with memory and a new hard drive but it still runs.

OK so you get the idea that I was in need of a new computer. We've already established that I do NOT have time to do a lot of work -- I just need another computer that will run. I went to Dell - selected my features and I got my new computer 4 weeks ago. I got it out of the box 3 weeks ago and unfortunately I missed the 21 day window (YES 21 days) to send it back. Apparently the motherboard and power supply are TOAST. This after I have spent over an hour on the phone with a tech guy and then another hour with the cs people. It was awful...all I could think of is the address on the shipping label says Lavergne TN and these people on the phone couldn't be from there! Did I mention that NONE OF THEM COULD SPEAK GOOD ENGLISH??? GRUMBLE GRUMBLE I'm so tired of companies outsourcing to foreign companies and expecting me to buy products KNOWING this is the type of support we get. No wonder our consumer confidence is down.

Now, I am going to have to schedule a day for someone to come and service my machine - my BRAND NEW XPS machine. We need lemon laws for computers.

So THANK YOU DELL for ruining my day.
