My husband, daughter and I ride our bikes at least twice (but usually more) a week. We've been doing this for two years going on three. Husband has been riding since 2001. (I rode -- but very casually). We like trails, greenways, bike paths etc. Today was the first time we have ridden on the actual road. We decided to go to the ice cream place that is a good ride from our house. Fun right?
OK so we ride on the bike path for the majority of the ride. For about a half a mile we have to ride on the actual road. We ride as far to the right as we can. There is a public park in that half mile so people ride bikes around that area all of the time. Not to mention, there are PLENTY of passing opportunities (turn lanes etc). So we get to the ice cream shoppe without drama, have an ice cream, pet a dog named Maya and head home.
We are almost back to the SIDEWALK portion of the ride when this lady in a silver Honda Odyssey Minivan rolls down her window and screams "IDIOT" at me. I just laughed...but then she LAYS on the horn at my husband and daughter -- scaring the YKWhat out of my daughter. OK now she's just angered the mama bird.
I'm beside myself angry at this moment.
To rude evil angry lady: It must be nice to have road rage in your 1000 ton minivan and you must be a real baddie to scream obscenties out at a family of 3 riding their bikes on a sunny late afternoon. SERIOUSLY!@!#@!#$ I hope you feel better about yourself having done so. I think the only thing you did was make yourself just look like a big jerk.
