9 Lives - 1= 8 Lives

Its lunchtime and me and my friends are walking downtown to get the best salad in town....I am carrying an umbrella because its drizzling out. The road is four lanes, so se waited for the crosswalk to give the ok and then started walk across the street. I am looking down the opposite way to make sure no one was coming and all of the sudden golfer barbie says in a very calm voice "Car"...I hear a screeching of the tires. When I look to my left a car was turning and wasn't stopping for me or my friends. She somehow jerked her Explorer over into the other lane while I preceeded to scream a blood curling scream. It was very scary. I was asked did my life flash before my eyes, I have to say no...but I do feel like I just gave up one of my 9. I'm grateful to God that he let me live another day.

Remember: Drive carefully and watch for pedestrians...I'll work on this too.

And for the record...NO! She didn't stop.

Here is a Sonnet from one of my favorite English Writers, John Donne

Death, be not proud (Holy Sonnet 10)

Death, be not proud, though some have called thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou are not so;
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death, nor yet canst thou kill me.
From rest and sleep, which but thy pictures be,
Much pleasure; then from thee much more must flow,
And soonest our best men with thee do go,
Rest of their bones, and soul's delivery.
Thou'art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell,
And poppy'or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally,
And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die.
