C25K Week 2 Day 2 @c25kapp #c25k

Weather: Indoors 72
Bedtime: 10:30
Runtime: 12:45 PM
Terrain: Treadmill

We went to my sister's to watch football today but I knew I had to get my C25K in...I was supposed to run yesterday, but decided for scheduling purposes to do it today. She has a treadmill so I thought I would try that for something new.

One thing about a treadmill, you know how far you've gone and in what time you did it. I didn't go very far in a long amount of time. Its frustrating. It = my miles per hour. I don't have a long stride right now because of my joint issues. After I broke my leg, my joints became VERY stiff. Someone told me that arthritis can be triggered by major injuries. YAY ME.

Anyway, that is what I'm going to work on -- pushing myself to do better, go farther, and go faster.

My posture was good during my runtime today and I had ZERO back pain. THAT is an improvement over last time!

C25K Week 2 Day 1 @c25kapp #c25k

Weather: Sunny and COLD (43 degrees)
Bedtime: 10:30
Runtime: 8:00 AM
Terrain: The usual :)

Today SUCKED.

Sorry for the language but it did. UGH. About halfway through my lower back muscle on the left side just cramped up and took my breath away. I kept going but didn't go near as far as I did last time. It was really cold and my legs were cramping up too. I think I need to do more stretching when its this cold out.

The one thing the muscle cramps really showed me is that I have crappy posture when I am running. I tend to thrust my upper body forward. After my back started hurting, I really concentrated on lifting my upper body UP and engaging my abs really hard. This cut down my stride quite a bit but it felt good to run that way and my back didn't hurt!

On to Week 2 Day 2...No little muscle cramp will stop me....on Friday!

C25K - Week 1 Day 3

Weather - Cold (44 degrees)
Bedtime - 12:00 PM
Run time - 7:30 AM
Terrain - Sidewalk with slight incline (2 up and 2 down) and a BIG HILL

Fall has arrived.

It was cooler this morning and it was a little hard to get started but once I did, I felt GREAT! I think this routine is giving me energy - which is a good thing considering I was DRAGGING just one week ago.

Today I....

  • I didn't care to stop and start running when there were cars coming. I just did it. Before I would either keep running or not start running until it was clear. I am not sure why I cared about ANYTHING the people driving by thought, but I did.

  • I didn't wonder when the run time would end....I was surprised actually they went by so fast!

  • I went further than I have before (which means I'm making better time, yes?)

  • Enjoyed my time exercising! Wow a first!

I hope I might inspire ONE person to try this program....maybe by the end of my 9 weeks I will have.

C25K - Day 2

Weather - warm
Bedtime - 12:00 PM
Run time - 11:00 AM
Terrain - Sidewalk with slight incline (2 up and 2 down) and a BIG HILL

Today was great. My family went with me and we had a nice time -- it was such a beautiful day. I love them...

Anyway, it was easy to do today. I went further than I did Day 1. I'm working on my running stride and "spring" in my step and was able to focus on that some today.

Day 3 will be Monday morning...YAY RAH!

Couch to a 5K - Day 1

C25K - Day 1

Weather - cool post-rainy 60 degrees
Bedtime - 11:00 PM
Run time - 7:00 AM
Terrain - Sidewalk with slight incline (2 up and 2 down) and a hill at the end.

I woke up this morning determined to do this. I felt like I had been putting it off (I downloaded the app weeks ago) and made countless excuses. My friend Val (borrowed friend) decided to run a 5k in December. Its ON!

By the 9th run segment, I felt like I was glad it was over. I really think that I could have gone longer which makes me feel better...maybe Saturday won't be so bad?

Dear Mom,
